A slip ring is an electromechanical device that allows the transmission of power and electrical signals from a stationary to a rotating structure. Also called a rotary electrical joint, collector or electric swivel, a slip ring can be used in any electromechanical system that requires un-restrained, intermittent or continuous rotation while transmitting power and/or data. It can improve mechanical performance, simplify system operation and eliminate damage-prone wires dangling from movable joints. For high-speed data transfer or for data transfer in EMI sensitive environments, we manufacture a line of Fiber Optic Rotary Joints (FORJ's). With over 6,000 designs, if you do not see a slip ring to match your requirements, please contact us for assistance. Our slip rings are aggressively priced, available for fast delivery and are designed for tough commercial, industrial and military environments.

Moog Components Group offers a new comprehensive guide that allows you to select the slip ring that fits your application. It provides in-depth data about various slip ring models and fiber optic rotary joints. Application articles spotlight how to size, select and apply slip rings. This guide features various custom applications and slip ring solutions are illustrated.
Product specifications, outline drawings and features are included.

Slip
Rings with Through-Bores |
|
The
unobstructed bore through the center provides routing space
for hydraulics, pneumatics or for a concentric shaft mount.
Our through-bore slip rings feature our fiber brush technology
which offers several advantages over conventional slip ring
technology including multiple points of contact force per
fiber and low contact wear rates. In addition, fiber brushes
do not require lubrication and produce virtually no wear
debris. |
|
Slip
Ring Capsules (Compact) |
|
Our
economical, compact slip ring capsule family allows tremendous
flexibility in dealing with systems size require-ments when
larger versions are not an option. Capsules with up to 56
contacts are available. |
|
High
Speed Slip Ring Capsules |
|
High
speed slip rings are used in applications up to 10,000 rpm.
Fiber Brush contacts provide long-life and operation up
to 10,000 rpm without the need for cooling equipment. |
|
Large
Diameter Slip Rings |
|
Our
large bore slip rings represent the union of new manu-facturing
processes and technologies that enable us to offer large,
mass-producible slip rings with advanced features, that
are also cost effective. |

systems and main and tail rotors. Instrumentation and
data transfer capabilities are available and standard
on many designs.

Fiber
Optic Rotary Joint (FORJ) |
|
Fiber
Optic Rotary Joints (FORJ) are to optical signals what electrical
slip rings are to electrical signals, a means to pass signals
across rotating interfaces. Moog Components Group has been producing
electrical slip rings for over forty-seven years and has
been producing FORJs for over twenty years. We are the world's
largest supplier of rotary interfaces. |

Marine Slip Rings
|
|
Moog Components Group has delivered trusted technology products and services to the offshore petroleum, oceanographic, seismic and maritime industries for more than 20 years. Marine Slip Rings are designed to function in extreme marine environments. This category includes slip rings, FPSO swivels and fluid rotary unions. |

Miniature
slip ring capsule assemblies economically address both
critical space and weight limitations. Each assembly includes
the rotor, brush blocks, frame, ball bearings and dust cover.

Poly-Twist
or Twist Capsules |
|
|
The
Poly-Twist is a reliable slip ring substitute for limited
rotation applications, up to 1.5 turns of rotational freedom.
Sometimes called a twist-cap, this device resembles a
miniature slip ring assembly in size and appearance. It
provides a self-contained, no sliding contact rotary interface using flexible circuit tapes.

Vehicular
Slip Rings
|
|
|
Electrical
slip rings are used in vehicles such as tanks, retrievers,
mobile missile launchers, LAVs and armored personnel carriers.
A typical vehicle might contain slip rings in the turret, the commander station and the infrared
sight.
